This course continues the study of Calculus.

Course Overview

Math 142 continues the study of calculus where Math 141 left off with the integral.

By the end of the semester, students will:

  • Demonstrate proficiency with the fundamental tools and techniques of integration, infinite sequences and series, and differential equations.
  • Use integration to solve a variety of applied problems.
  • Identify connections between math and other branches of science and engineering.
  • Express mathematical ideas and arguments more formally and more clearly.
  • Understand some of the basic numerical methods to compute derivatives.

Prerequisites

  • C- or better in MTH 141.

  • Calculus: Single Variable by Hughes-Hallett et al., 7th Ed.

Grading

  • Midterm Exam 1: 15%
  • Midterm Exam 2: 15%
